PARENT PORTAL
Resources, support, and community from the local church.
WELCOME TO THE PARENT PORTAL
At Sale Street, we believe the local church should be your first stop for trusted resources, sound wisdom, support, and a solid partnership in raising your children to be disciples of Jesus. Your first milestone as a family is baby dedication, but what’s next? That’s where the church comes in and- the parent portal!
Here you’ll find two things- all of the contents from our Kingdom Kits in digital format (see below) and updated resources and support for you in this family discipleship journey.
Keep circling back to this page for updated information, seasonal changes, and fun things throughout the year. And if you haven’t received your Kingdom Kit just yet, email Emily (kids@salestreet.org) to get you set up.
We love you! We love being mission with you! We’re praying for all parents and families at SSBC. Keep Jesus first!
Every semester your family will receive a Kingdom Kit for at home family discipleship! In each box, there are four bags- keep, connect, grow, and share bags. The keep bags contain items to use regularly and keep handy at home. The connect bag has resources for connecting as a family and to the church! The grow bag contains study books and materials that correlate with our teaching at church so you can dig deeper during the week. Don’t worry- it’s quick and simple! Lastly, the share bag contains items for sharing our faith with others whether that is by learning about a missionary, getting into local missions efforts, or having a pen pal with someone across the globe! What we’re loving…
“The Talk” Books
If you’re like most parents, you might be, at best, a bit trepidatious about talking about sexual topics with your kids, and at worst, downright terrified! These books help you ease into these topics. In fact, they literally give you a script so you don’t have to think on your feet.
I personally have gone through these with our kids as well as several other parents in our church, and they come highly recommended. According to the books, a good time to start is around 6-8 years old.
This 3-part series of parent-child Bible studies is designed to help children understand biblical sexuality.
Playfully Connected
Now that I have three kiddos and Summer is here- I need ways to get out of the house and find fun! I recently stumbled onto Playfully Connected on Facebook. Their page lists all kinds of activities and events going on in SWLA for kids to keep your ideas and outings fresh. Here's their bio description:
"Playfully Connected is a SWLA nonprofit organization for parents and caregivers to connect with their children through recreational activities, programs, and events that foster family bonding, healthy development, and community engagement."
If you need summer ideas- check them out!
These have nothing to do with anything except we used them at our pizza themed Christmas party and now you can download them and print them to color for fun at home too! Click the button to download!
